Kathryn Hackett’s gardening “roots” go back three generations. Her grandfather spent his early life maintaining country gardens in Seven Oaks, England, and Kathryn apprenticed with him for most of her teenage years as he continued his trade in the United States after World War 2. Her father became a tree surgeon and large scale landscape designer and Kathryn spent a great deal of time on those job sites as well learning about site work and using large scale thinking to dramatically change landscapes.
For Kathryn herself, gardening in general – and English country traditions in particular – have been a lifelong interest. She combined her passion with degrees in business management and psychology, and founded Kathryn’s Gardens in 1987. Her gardening work has taken her from Burlington, Vermont, to Denver, Colorado. Today, she works with clients in northern and central Vermont.
